It was getting closer to prom by the minute, and though it was a few days away Jake felt himself shaking with nervous. His hands clutched the bouquet he bought for Alli. Gently he slipped them under the coffee table and called his dog, Baxter over towards the couch. His fingers traced the small metal tag that had the words, “Alli will you go to prom with me?” engraved into it. Jake stared at his large puppy who was curled into the cushions of the couch. “You’re going to be a good promposal right?” he said to the dog teasingly, stroking it’s back.
He’d already asked Jess to prom, but felt terrible Alli didn’t have a date. His mind switched to the chemistry they were supposed to study when she came over. The books were upstairs, and he could hear a car in front of the house. She was here already, he bolted up the stairs to get the books and could hear the door bell ring. Almost falling as he scurried back down, Jake flung his books across the small coffee table and opened the door panting. “Hey Alli, come on in.”
